Kazuru was our first school to do the Arsenal football coaching, the school was a 30 minute walk. Kazuru was a two week duration where we taught three hours a day. The classes we taught were p4, p5 and p6. The schools in Uganda are different from the schools in England, first one English is not their first language and the fact you could have 11 year olds with 9 year olds. Me, James and Michael planned a three station session, as we originally thought we were at the town pitch of kazuru, but it turned out to be a patch of field with a tree in the middle and a path not to mention the now again goats that turned up. So the sessions plans were thrown out of the window. So in the end we decide to separate the sessions; warm up, main session and match time. The classes were massive and in one class we ended up with 40 children, only three might of been to understand us. This means we had to make the most of out equipment that we had (10 balls, 20 cones and no bibs). The girls in Uganda loved to get stuck in with the boys compared to the girls in England. Which was really nice to see and the children always wanted to carry your bags for you as well. During the two weeks in one of the demonstrations we did for the class, me, Michael and James were explaining 2 v 1. Me and Michael were the attackers and James was the defender. Which some how I ended up on floor in this demo, which was highly and embarrassing. In this situation you have to laugh at your self. We spent two weeks with the classe's and worked with them in passing, dribbling and team play. This gave us and Vincent a teacher at kazuru a chance to see which children we should take for a tournament in April. On our last day we decide to do a major football Matches at the town pitch. Which involved all the classes of the school. When walking up to pitch one of the girls called Justine from P6, came up to me with passion fruits in her hand which were all for me. At first I thought only one was mine but she reassured me that all of them were for me and thanked me. I was quite surprised by this, i felt like she enjoyed her time with me over the two weeks. Before we said our goodbyes to the school we decided to give gifts out to certain children that have impressed us during the duration of our stay. In p4 a boy called Nicholas won a shirt because of is hard work, dedication and assisting us on our coaching with children that needed the extra help. He always was quite when we were speaking and got on with the sessions that we did. In p5 we had three boys and one girl that got the prize. Gift always got involved with the sessions and matches and wasn't afraid to leave her mark with the boys. Lewis because he was alway enthusiastic and had smile in every lesson we had. Alex and Geneva for their afford and positive attitude for the whole two weeks.
